| We are proud of the fabric we have selected for Azusa Racewear. Both choices are genuine Nylon, but with two different material weights: Nylon 420 and DuPont Cordura® Plus 1000/280 denier. Both combine the great looks, comfort and style of cotton duck with the rugged durability, superior strength and performance of Nylon. |
DuPont Cordura® Plus (1000) nylon is a dense 1000/280 denier weave, but lightweight (about 11 oz. per yard) and breathable. It has excellent resistance to scuffing and pilling under demanding conditions. Its new super-softness makes it comfortable as well as stylish and functional. If unfortunate circumstances result in a tumble, you want your skin to stick to your body instead of to the pavement. Abrasion-Resistant Fabric is key to increased ptotection. Cordura® Plus (also referred to as "Cordura® 1000") has 4 times the abrasion resistance of standard nylon, 20 times that of cotton duck and 3 times that of polypropylene. See the graphic at right for test results of the Modified "Wyzenbeek Abrasion Test (Warp Direction)." It is for this reason that Azusa recommends Cordura® Plus 1000 for kart racing. [DuPont's Cordura Site - here] Nylon 420 is 1/3 lighter in weight than Cordura® Plus 1000, but still tough -- offering outstanding wear and resistance to abrasions, punctures, tears, rot and mildew. It has a sheen finish, the colors are bright and stylishly good looking. Also, it is slightly less expensive than Cordura® |
